Riding the Wave(s) of Organization Change (From London Heathrow)

Well…here’s some thinking for those who are feeling “stuck” in change (i.e., dealing with the difficult parts and wishing for a moment when the worst parts of any change experience would go away for a few hours).
Last Friday, I was stranded at Heathrow Airport in London…ya know, that really good kind of stranded when you’re not really at the airport (because you’ve been herded to a private gate for “quarantine”) and you don’t know what’s next (because neither does the airline staff). So, it makes me think about how in those moments when change feels stressful, you can ease the pain by thinking about how, in the midst of all that, few things ever really change. Here’s a brief video post on how to make it through a tough change experience:
1. How upset can we really get about change if it often feels like the one constant in our lives today?
And,
2. The shortest path to your destination is to ride across the “tops of the waves”—not allowing the drama to pull you down into the swells.
