What IS a Leader?...Organizational Change Agent?

Participating in a Linked-in discussion forum this week, I was amazed at the technicalities and personal nuances that marked a professional group's discussion about "what we do." For the purpose of context and disclosure, this was an "OD" (organization development) group...
I offer this life-learning to all of my colleagues and fellow change agents who live life as "the tip of the spear:"
Existentially...we ARE the RESULTS we CREATE.

If you are one of those who chooses to cling to the belief that you are what you BELIEVE or you are what you DO, I encourage you to look at your life, your work, and how your work is valued (whether you're a unpaid volunteer lending aid to the homeless or CEO of a global commercial, profit-driven juggernaut) through the lens of those you serve. They rarely care what you believe and what you do, they value your service, leadership, or even the most bane of "transactions" based on the results you create--how you change their experience or quality of life. Even if you work in a values-based group, remember that the values (and your ability to walk them, not just talk them) is merely the cost of entry (and sustained membership---you must still create something, even if that creation is not a commercial widget, but a better day for those you serve.
We ARE the results we create. Agree?...Disagree?
To be clear, this is a statement that reveals personal purpose and focus, not an impersonal, unaccountable endorsement for (ANY) means justified by (ANY) ends.
I wish you all success in making a difference today!
